Silver Mountain Christmas Tree Nursery

The Silver Mountain Christmas Tree Nursery is the newest and largest Conifer Seedling Nursery in the Pacific Northwest. Our 200-acre state of the art production facility includes our own seed lab, stratification facilities, our own patented machinery for seed planting and cultivation, and much more.

Seed Cultivation (click for more details)

• Silver Mountain Christmas Trees maintains our own seed forest
• Cones are hand pollenated and carefully crossbred seed for the best characteristics.

Seedling Care (click for more details)

• We plant the seeds using the Silver Mountain Vacuum Precision Seeder, which plants at an exact depth and gives every tree the amount of sunlight and space for maximum growth
• The growing seedlings are carefully watered, fertilized and cared for through a two year growing period
• During growing, we prune the roots using our own Lateral Root Pruner, resulting in a more condensed, full root system.
• We also use our Reciprocating Undercutter Wrencher to trim the vertical root growth.
• Combining the Lateral Root Pruning and Reciprocating Undercutter Wrencher also eliminates "J" rooting and multiples the number of feeder roots.

Grading and Packaging (click for more details)

• At two to three years, seedlings are dug up, and go to our Grading Center where they are evaluated for height, caliper, and shoot/root ratio.
• We strive for a root system about the same size as the shoot it supports.
• Roots are packed and then placed in coolers or freezers which cause the trees to shut down until they are shipped to you.
